Sometimes it’S fun to go on an impromptu date…

So, today Kevin and I did just that! I had an appointment downtown and, when I finished early, decided to call my hubby in hopes of having an early lunch date. These days, being residents in a new city with no family doesn’t leave much alone time for Kevin and I. We gotta get our dates in where we can.

But, back to our brunch date… We decided to wing it and happened upon Oddfellows Cafe in Capitol Hill. And, I am so glad we did! Upon arrival we quickly realized that they weren’t serving lunch yet… after all, it was barely 11 am. But, let me tell you, we were not disappointed.

We both ordered the breakfast panini. It was hearty, fresh, and chock full of bacon, eggs, and provolone cheese. When you cut into it the yolks were runny and delicious (just the way I like them). It also came with a fresh greens salad that was dressed to perfection. So, what turned into what we thought would be a throwaway meal just to get some time in together, turned out to be incredibly filling and ridiculously tasty.

We literally left saying “I can’t wait to go back and try their lunch and dinner service”. And truly… their cocktails also looked delicious. I mean, look at this bar filled with the old stand by liquors, mixed with more unique & modern bottles that I’ve never heard of.

I loved the atmosphere and decor. All the details were thought out and personal. It had that classic, dare I say, hipster vibe. But, it was not pretentious or trying too hard. It just was that cool. We definitely can’t wait to head back.

But the best part of all?? The company.
